FireWire Performance Manager 2.0 - update now!
Posted by Stefan Geißler on February 16, 2007
Since the FireWire Performance Manager 1.0 caused my laptop to discharge the battery too quickly -- even if no camera has been connected -- I decided to enhance it.
FireWire Performance Manager 2.0 now checks for a connected FireWire camera or a FireWire converter. If a device is found, the profile for complete image transfer is set. If the device is removed, the standard profile is set. This causes the laptop to save battery charge and consequently run longer.
FireWire Performance Manager 2.0 places an icon in the Windows system tray (that is near the clock in the lower right corner). If no video capture device is connected through FireWire, the following icon is shown:

As soon as a FireWire video capture device has been detected, the icon changes to:
![]()
The FireWire Performance Manager 2.0 can be downloaded free of charge from the Tools & Utilities section of this web site.
