About IC Imaging Control Licensing and Versions
Posted by Stefan Geißler on November 18, 2006
We are often asked about licensing and the various versions of IC Imaging Control. Below are the most commonly posed questions with answers:
What are the differences between the Standard and Professional versions of IC Imaging Control?
The Standard version is included free of charge with the The Imaging Source Frame Grabbers, The Imaging Source Video-to-Firewire Converter and The Imaging Source FireWire Cameras. However, it will only work with this device. The Professional version is not free, but supports all WDM compatible video devices, including USB and FireWire cameras, and many frame grabber boards. There is no difference between the 2 versions other than this.
What is the difference between a developer license and a runtime license?
One developer license is required for each developer working with IC Imaging Control. For example, if you have three developers, creating an application that deploys IC Imaging Control, you require three developer licenses.
One runtime license is required for each end-user application you sell that deploys IC Imaging Control. For example, if you have created an application with IC Imaging Control and you sell 50 copies of this end-user application, you require 50 runtime licenses.
I have four developers - do I need to purchase four developer licenses?
No. We offer a special four-developer license for the price of two developer licenses. Take a look at the pricing table for further details.
How many runtime licenses are included with one developer license?
When you purchase a developer license, you automatically get ten runtime licenses. This means you can ship your end-user application to 10 customers before you need to purchase additional runtime licenses.
Do you have a bulk or unlimited end-user license?
Yes. If you ship your end-user application to more than 100 people, the unlimited runtime license will save you money. This allocates you an unlimited number of runtime licenses. For example, if you ship your application to 10,000 end-users, you only need one unlimited license. Take a look at the pricing table for details.
