Reading the Serial Number of a Video Capture Device

Using IC Imaging Control, it is possible to read the serial number of a video capture device.

The serial number is a unique identifier.

For example, it can be used to programmatically identify the device, or even as a kind of security feature (dongle).

It must be noted, however, that not all video capture devices allow their serial number to be read. It is therefore, very important that the return values from IC Imaging Control are properly validated.

I recently published a short source code example that illustrates how to read a serial number and validate its return value.

Please take a look at the Read the Serial Number of a Video Capture Device in the source code library.

As ever, if you need any help with this brief snippet, or indeed, with any other aspect related to IC Imaging Control, please do not hesitate to contact me.
