Interrupted Live Video Stream on Laptops Repaired

Posted by Stefan Geißler on February 15, 2007

It has been reported that when IC Imaging Control is deployed on laptops whose CPU is of type Intel® T2400 or faster, the live video stream from the connected device can become interrupted, resulting in fragmented images.

To resolve this problem, we have developed a new piece of software called the FireWire Performance Manager. This small program creates and activates a new power profile. Once the new power profile has been activated, the images in the live video stream should flow again without interruption.

The FireWire Performance Manager can be downloaded for free of charge from the Tools & Utilities section of this web site.

Once installed, a new power profile, called FireWire Performance Manager, will appear in the Power Options on the Control Panel.

The new power profile prevents the laptop from switching in to power saving modes, thus the amount of time that the laptop can run on batteries is reduced.

The FireWire Performance Manager profile can be switched on and off at will. Or the previous setting can be restored. Simply select the appropriate option in the Power Options dialog.

In the near future, we intend to release an updated version of the FireWire Performance Manager that will be able to detect the connected FireWire camera and switch the power profile automatically.
