WDM Stream Class Devices

WDM Stream Class Devices

Developed by Microsoft, WDM is a driver technology to create drivers that are compatible to Windows 98, 2000, Me, XP and Vista.

WDM is an acronym for Windows Driver Model.

WDM drivers delegate a large part of the interaction with the device to the operating system. This has the advantage that with fewer lines of code, a developer can create a streamlined driver and one that works at great efficiency, in comparison to traditional drivers.

All of the image acquisition hardware that is sold by The Imaging Source ships with a WDM Stream Class driver. In addition any other device for which a WDM Stream Class Driver is available can be directly accessed from within applications based upon IC Imaging Control.
